I’ve been completely committed to Mother Denim since the season it launched. Once I slipped into my first pair, all the other denim brands I was wearing simply didn’t compare. It didn’t take long to weed out the other designers. For over a year now (ok, maybe two), I’ve worn MOTHER exclusively. I have a pile (ok, maybe two) in my closet to prove this. Their fall look book has me making a mental list of which fits and washes I need to add to my collection. Here’s what MOTHER’s Lela Becker (Co-Founder/President of Sales) has to say about their latest:
Dena: What inspired the fall 2014 collection?
Lela: “The Fall collection is all about the 1960’s collegiate ivy league culture, along with the movie The Outsiders where it was all about the greasers vs. the preps. Tim designed his take on the greasers’ look with different lengths and cuffs, which are a big trend this fall. We love loose jeans with big cuffs at the moment.”
Dena: How has the line evolved since it launched?
Lela: “The biggest change is the expansion of denim shirting and jackets. It was a natural progression to add in pieces that go with our jeans and the MOTHER aesthetic.”
Dena: What are your personal faves from this collection?
Lela: “The Loosey Pant and The Cabin Fever Jacket in Always Look Twice, as well as our new Blow Out group that features distressed denim in a rich colored fall palette.”
Dena: What other brands/designers do you like to wear with Mother?
Lela: “Isabel Marant, Chanel, Zimmermann, Saint Laurent, as well as vintage pieces.”
Dena: You have a nice following ramping up on social media. Which network do you like best and why?
Lela: “Instagram for the photos and simplicity. I like that it is just visual and not too much chatter.”
